Founded in 1992, PI Ceramic develops and produces high-tech solutions based on piezo ceramics. As part of the PI Group, PI Ceramic is the global PI competence center for piezo technology with a broad product range consisting of piezoceramic components and multilayer actuators through to highly refined component parts to subsystems for ultrasound technology. PI Ceramic can not only develop and produce customer-specific piezo elements in single units but also handle the automated series production of millions of units.

With 30 years of experience and technical expertise, PI Ceramic operates successfully in innovative and dynamic markets and realizes sophisticated applications in the areas of medical technology, industrial ultrasonic sensors, and precision dosing.

The company, based in Lederhose in the region of Thuringia, currently has more than 400 employees – of which more than 100 are engineers. In 2020, the company's modernly equipped premises were extended to an area of 20,000 m2 to add new production and office space, including 1,600 m² for clean rooms.

Thanks to its global presence, PI Ceramic is one of the strongest-growing and most forward-looking high-tech companies in East Thuringia.

Certified Quality

Since 1997, PI Ceramic has been certified according to the ISO 9001 standard, where the emphasis is not only on product quality but primarily on the expectations of the customer and his satisfaction. PI Ceramic is also certified according to the ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety) standards. The compliance with the standard is documented and checked regularly through the Integrated Management System (IMS) of the PI Group.

RoHS Directive

The EU directive 2011/65/EU (before Jan 03, 2013: 2002/95/EC) for the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electronic devices, also known as Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), has been transposed into German Law (ElektroG). The objective of this law is environmental and health protection.

Physik Instrumente (PI) GmbH & Co. KG will naturally also observe this directive and thus help to protect the environment.
